Best Cultural Attractions in London

The Ultimate Guide to the Best Cultural Attractions in London.

Treat yourself to a trip to London and let yourself be blown away by the unique cultural experience that this city has to offer.

Buckingham Palace

Open to the public in summer, the Queen’s residence houses a collection of art acquired and commissioned by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. The audio guide is a perfect accompaniment to the tour. The palace can be quite crowded, due to it being opened to the public for only two months in summer, but definitely worth visiting!

Kensington Palace

Experience the life of the royals for a couple of hours in this treasure trove of art and memorabilia. Queen Victoria’s childhood home, this palace gives an insight on the joyful experiences and hardships faced by the Grandmother of Europe in her long reign.

The National Gallery

When the weather takes a turn for the worst, museums are the best shelter. Indulge in the beautiful artwork collected in this huge building and get lost in the landscapes depicted in the numerous paintings that cover the walls. You could easily spend three hours here without having seen them all. A very valid reason to go back! After all, admission is free!

St. Paul’s Cathedral

The cathedral with a dome that dominates the city’s skyline, the interior of this building is no less awe-inspiring. Step inside and listen to the audio guide as you marvel at the works inside this masterpiece. Want a 360˚ view of London. Climb up the 528 steps to the top and feel on top of the world! Have your camera at the ready (not that you’ll ever forget a climb like that, mind you!) You may wish to book your tickets in advance by clicking here.

Southwark Cathedral

A quiet place (for reflection, if you wish to) after the hubbub of activity at the market. We were lucky enough to be in time for a singing session by a choir of boys. Plan ahead if you wish to attend one.

The Wallace Collection

So much beautiful artwork housed in one building! And admission is free, too!

  1. I miss London (used to live there) and all the places I could go to visit and take a little wander around. My favourite places are the British Museum, Petrie Museum, The London Aquarium and the Tate Modern! Your list here is great — so many happy memories!

Thank you so much for this very interesting and informative blog, it made me feel like I was there even though I have never visited London before, but thanks to your blog I am more interested in visiting. My top three favorite sites where Buckingham Palace, The National Gallery and last but not least Kensington Palace they where so fascinating to me because I am very interested on what happened in the past and on how the world changes during these generations oh how I wish that some things stayed the same but i guess at least there are places, articles and blogs so at least you can sit back and imagine thank you so much for this blog.

    1. You’re most welcome, Justin! I do wish most things had stayed the same too (I am glad we have plumbing and electricity these days, though! :D). I’m sure you will enjoy London when you visit someday – it’s a very vibrant city!
